After performing this past weekend live at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles, rapper Lupe Fiasco (@lupefiasco) saw a large increase in awareness, website traffic, and most importantly, album sales.
The spike in sales can be attributed to this year's ceremony being the most watched MTV Movie Awards since 2004, with over 4.5 million viewers.
Lupe Fiasco performed “Out of My Head” with Trey Songz (@treysongz), and “The Show Goes On," both, of which are off his current album Lasers.
It did not take long for the album to jump from #60 to #25 on the Billboard Top 200. The rapper also has the #1 Rap album in the nation.
"This performance came at the perfect time for Lupe," Atlantic Records’ David Saslow said. Just as 'The Show Goes On' hits #1 at radio, & we begin the campaign on 'Out Of My Head' with Trey, the Movie Awards comes in with a sledgehammer! Lupe Fiasco is having an incredible summer with his third album, Lasers. Many thanks to MTV."
“The Show Goes On” moved from #18 to #11 on the singles charts both “Out of My Head” and “Words I Never Said” had significant jumps on the Hip-Hop chart as well.
